The University of Toronto is the largest university in Canada with more than 60,000 students. The challenge was to create a coherent system that would raise the profile of the university to the level of its importance to the country. Conceiving their new identity involved working simultaneously with several large faculties (Medicine, Arts and Science, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)) and the central administration to develop the brand architecture. It entailed extensive research and interviewing, workshops, presentations, along with the design of the identity, communications materials and products. Examples of the new identity and selected communications materials follow.
